WHO ARE WE :
We are a small group – hoping to grow larger - of boy's of High School age with a couple of adult leaders from the Congregation of St Columba's. Although we are a Christian Group connected to the Church we will not ram religion down anyone's throats.
When do we meet :
We meet on Sunday morning's at 11.00am. We go into to Church first for about 20 minutes then meet in our own room upstairs.
What are our aims ;
We aim to appeal to the youth of the area, to promote a Christian lifestyle, but in a relaxed atmosphere, without any bible thumping. Our aim is to ensure the youth have a connection with the Church in their teenage years, before they are of an age to decide if they want to join the Church in their own right. Our one prime aim is to ensure everyone has FUN, by coming to our group.
What do we do ;
We aim to provide a mixture of activities within the fellowship of the Church. We have discussions on current affairs and how they affect our lives, we have quizzes, we use computers, we have fundraising events and the occasional speaker.
.
In the past our outings have consisted of visits to Hampden, Murrayfield, dri ski slope at Tillicoultry, Go Karting, Hillwalking (Ben Lomond and Ben Ledi), Cinema, Bowling.
We have raised funds for the Church's centenary fund by doing sponsored 10 pin bowling, last year we took part in the Great Scottish walk to raise money for homelessness and we won the under 18 trophy for the most money raised. Each year we collect coppers and this money has gone to Aberlour Children's Trust.
This year we also have the services of a full time youth worker for the Stirling area appointed by the Haldane Trust to call on for ideas and support.
We are not a youth club just providing games facilities – the Church also provides this with it's Sunday at Seven Group – but we aim to have a religious link in some form or other – even if this is only the 20 minutes in Church each week.
